Discord server health scores: two in five servers sit at D or F
TL;DR

In a snapshot taken on 22 September 2026, the BuildMyDiscord health check had scored 844 Discord servers on a 0 to 100 scale. The average was 62. 6.9% earned an A, and 353 servers, 41.8%, sat at a D or an F.

1

What the score measures

The health check gives a Discord server a score from 0 to 100. It combines five weighted dimensions: activity (30%), onboarding (25%), structure (20%), retention (15%) and safety (10%). The grade follows the score: A from 90, B from 75, C from 60, D from 40, F below 40.

What the numbers say

On 22 September 2026 the fleet statistic covered 844 servers, using each server's most recent score. The average was 62 out of 100.

The grades were spread like this: A 58 servers (6.9%), B 157 (18.6%), C 276 (32.7%), D 248 (29.4%) and F 105 (12.4%). Together, 353 servers (41.8%) scored D or F, and 629 (74.5%) scored below a B.

Three patterns behind low scores

The score points at three kinds of problems. Dead channels: a structure built for a large community while the actual conversation fits in a few channels. Broken onboarding: members join but never reach their first message, for example because a role step fails. Member loss: more people leaving than joining, hidden behind a total member count that still looks fine.

None of these announce themselves. A server does not crash; it gets quieter.

Many problems are quick to fix

Some of these problems take seconds to fix once they are visible. A common one is role order: a bot can only grant roles that sit below its own highest role, so a verification role placed above the bot's role is never assigned. Moving the bot's role above it fixes the step.

Often, because several common causes are configuration issues, such as a verification role placed above the bot's role. The score shows which dimension loses the most points.
